We love this product so damn much, so this year decided to take it one step further...
What do you do with an iconic barrel?
One that has gently aged sweet Bourbon whisky for 4 years.
AAAND then had some of the Cape's best 10 year old Pot Still Brandy calling it home for 6 months.
It would be a shame to throw it away don't you think...?
So we decided not to.
Instead, we teamed up with the extremely talented afro caffeine icon that is Moses, to make something truly unique. A cask aged coffee. A bourbon cask aged coffee.
A bourbon cask that was filled with brandy aged coffee :)
Once we emptied our brandy from the barrel, we filled that oaky, delicious beast with 60kg of single origin roasted coffee beans from Burundi and aged them in there for 2 weeks.
Over these 2 weeks, the vanilla and toffee notes infused in the oak helped break down the sugars in the coffee beans. This formed wonderfully complex notes in the coffee, reminiscent of the barrel itself. Please note, this is not a coffee that tastes like Brandy. It is a very unique and delightfully smooth coffee best enjoyed like any other, but this one is so so so much more than that :)
