Wild Cape Vermouth is an honest collaboration between a winemaker, a distiller and the botanically rich land they call home.

Made together with our friends at The Blacksmith Wines, we start with Cape wine and build layers of bright fruit, gentle spice and savoury botanical character around it.

The result is a vermouth that's fresh, fruity, subtly spiced and seriously drinkable.

Not just something to hide behind the gin in your Negroni.

DRINK IT PROPERLY.

Pour it over a big chunk of ice. Add a splash of soda. Maybe a twist of citrus.

This is a staple for any drinks cabinet and is best enjoyed on ice with a splash of soda or in your favourite Negroni.

1. VERMOUTH SPRITZ

To a big glass with ice: add 75ml Wild Cape Vermouth, 150ml Soda. Add an orange wedge for garnish. Best enjoyed on a hot Summer day :)

2. VERMOUTH SBAGLIATO

Add 45ml Vermouth and 45ml Campari to a glass with ice and stir. Top up with 45-60ml sparkling wine, then garnish with an orange slice and green olives.

3. VERMOUTH ON THE ROCKS

To a fancy glass: add a few blocks of ice, pour 75ml Wild Cape Vermouth + an orange peel (you can twist it to release some of the orange aromas).

Ancient origins

Vermouth is one of the oldest alcoholic aperitifs, with its origins tracing back thousands of years to ancient medicinal tonics and the first bottled version dating back as early as 1786.

How to drink it

In cocktails! In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, vermouth became an essential anchor ingredient for classic mixology, helping to balance the harshness of spirits like gin and whiskey. Enjoy it in your next Negroni, Manhattan, Boulevardier, or take a deep dive into some more obscure cocktails and share your favourite recipes with us!

Our Wild Cape Vermouth is such a beautiful collaboration with our friends at The Blacksmith Wines and a great way for us to showcase the diverse botanicals in the Western Cape. We've included over 15 different locally grown botanicals to create what has quickly become one of my favourite Pienaar & Son releases :)
